Jim Tarter met God in 1972 when he was 27, a Ph.D. physicist and an agnostic. God quickly started showing Jim that Jesus authentically represents God, and that the Bible is God’s word. Jim started reading the Bible thinking that it was full of contradictions, but got surprised. He soon joined a church in Pittsburgh, PA. The pastor was Joseph Garlington, who provided a rich spiritual foundation. Jim moved to Roanoke in 1978 and actively participated in two successive small churches until He found and joined Grace Covenant Church in 1986. He has taught in public schools since 1976, and has written13 books about the Bible, 11 of which are availlable at www.lulu.com. In summers, Jim and his wife Nita have taken extensive trips to southern Sudan, the Congo, and elsewhere.
